I have a Harbor Freight multy meter , works good for what it does.
 $3,, 9 volt battery included .   You got yours for $2 ,,, I got ripped off man.
 Some places want $3 for the battery,,,

Finally got around to putting the cap in, I settled on a high tolerance .0022uf on the bridge and a .001uf on the neck. Seems to have cured the high end bite a touch. Thanks for the advice everyone.

Go to www.harborfreight.com and see if you have a store in your city.  I picked up a few meters WITH transistor testers for about 3 or 4 bucks.  Seems they're on sale every other week for as little as 2 bucks.

Splurge an extra buck and get the one with the backlight.   Wink

I've got a couple of them. The first one I paid a whopping $10 for, the next one I got cause it was on sale for $2. That is one of my favorite stores.
